Psychological counseling

When you need support around a concrete theme, dilemma, or period you are going through.

A session lasts 70 minutes. I work online and in person.

What is psychological counseling?

Psychological counseling is a form of support directed at a concrete theme, dilemma, or situation you are going through.

Unlike psychotherapy, counseling is most often shorter and more concretely focused. We do not necessarily enter deeper, longer work on patterns; we focus on what matters to you right now and what you need support with.

You do not need to know exactly “what is wrong with you”. It is enough to know what you want help with at the moment.

Who is counseling for?

Counseling may be for you if:

  • you need to make a decision and find it hard to see the situation clearly;
  • you are going through a stressful period;
  • you feel overloaded at work and do not know how to set boundaries;
  • you have a concrete conflict with a partner, colleague, or family member;
  • you are preparing for an important conversation;
  • a job interview or a career change is ahead;
  • you have a concrete dilemma and want to look at it from more angles with someone;
  • you simply feel you need space to pause and think about what comes next.

What does counseling look like?

A session lasts 70 minutes.

At the beginning we talk about what brings you and what you want to clarify. Together we look at the situation, what is happening for you in it, which options you currently see, and what may be stopping you from taking the next step.

The focus is on the concrete theme and what you need now.

Counseling can be a single meeting, or it can include several sessions, depending on the theme and your need. It does not assume continuity the way psychotherapy does.

If through the conversation we notice that a broader pattern sits behind the concrete theme, or that you want deeper work, we can talk about whether psychotherapy would be a more suitable form of support.

Counseling or psychotherapy?

If you are not sure what fits you better, you do not need to know in advance.

Counseling is more directed at a concrete situation, dilemma, or problem you want to resolve now.

Psychotherapy is a more continuous and deeper process in which we explore repeating patterns, the way you build relationships, how you experience yourself, and what happens for you in different life situations.

If you are not sure which format you need, we can clarify that together in a short consultation.
